Walk Two: Central Station to Danks Street circuit

Overview: From Central Station, exit at Elizabeth St. Walk to the right along Elizabeth St to the Dank St galleries. Then return along Young St and Marlborough St, then via a bus from Cleveland St to Central Station.

It is quite a long walk from Central Station to Danks Street - about 30 minutes. If you prefer to start the walk closer to the Danks Street galleries, you can take a bus from Central Station, at the Elizabeth Street exit. Bus #343 runs along Elizabeth Street. Alight at the corner of Phillip Street, which is parallel to Danks Street.
You can also take other buses from Circular Quay: Buses #301-3 and alight in Bourke Street near the corner with Danks Street. Bus #343 also starts from Circular Quay.

Start at the Central Station at the Elizabeth St exit. Cross Chalmers St. Turn right and walk south along Elizabeth St, then veer right into Randle St for the first gallery:

Walk back to Elizabeth St, then continue walking south where you will find the next gallery on the other side past Devonshire St.

Continue walking south along Elizabeth St, crossing Cleveland St to Redfern Street, where you will find the next gallery.

Cross over Elizabeth St and walk to Young St where you should turn right and walk to Danks St. On the corner with Danks St you will find a large warehouse full of galleries, mainly displaying contemporary art, as well as the Devon on Danks Cafe.

This space includes the following galleries: The complex is called 2 Danks Street Galleries and is on the corner of Young and Danks Sts.

At this point, if you have had enough walking for one day, you can walk to the other end of Danks St and catch a bus back to Central Station from the stop just around the corner in Bourke St.

However, if you would like to visit the last gallery on the walk, return along Young St, following it across Cleveland St where it becomes Marlborough St. The gallery is on the corner with Goodlet St. Walk back to Cleveland St and cross to the other side where you can catch buses back to Central Station.

Hope you had a fantastic day!
